There is much controversy in dog foods.  I do not recommend one dog food over another.  I do recommend that you educate yourself and make an imformed decision based on what you feel is best for your dog.  Below are some dog food related links.  As in any research, beware of jaded opinion or those selling their own products.  I post them to get you intrested in knowing exactly what it is that your dog is eating.  It is up to you to decide from there.  Each dog is different.  Some may be allergic to one or more ingredients in any given dog food.

Which Dog Food is Best & Which is Bad?

BAD INGREDIENTS IN DOG FOOD:  I feel that the main things to avoid is "meat by products" & chemicals such as BHA & BHT.  I also think that a good quality dog food should not contain corn, wheat or sugar products and do not have an excess of fillers.

GOOD INGREDIENTS IN DOG FOOD:  The main consideration is that the first primary ingredient should be a high quality meat source such as chicken or lamb.   Avoid too many fillers.  I also recommend that you add fresh, natural, high quality raw meat to your dog's diet.  A small amount of certain fresh vegtables & fruit are also good for your dog.

What is in my dog food?

Here is a site that lists ingredients for some dog foods.

http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/dogfoods.html

This site will list the ingredients of many, but not all, of the dog foods for comparison.  Just click on the dog food to see the list of ingredients for.  I noticed that some of the better dog foods are left out, so be aware.  They also give an opposing view to raw dog food diets, which shows you everyone has an opinion.

Use common sense and make an educated decision.  Many are just trying to pitch a book or their own products.   My common sense tells me that being too obsessive one way or another seldom leads to balance.  I try to find a high quality dog food without harmful preservatives and add natural things to the dog's diet which are beneficial to their health.     Each dog is different.  Your dog may be allergic to one of the ingredients found in any given dog food, so monitor them carefully when making changes in their diet.  Make changes gradually so you do not upset their digestive system.
