We are announcing a future out-breeding between Divo & Quicksilver.    Puppies will be available for adoption, summer of 2010.   Quicksilver is not owned by Cespa Tibetan Terriers.  Quicksilver is Zoi & Mystic's full sister & owned by another breeder.    To apply for adoption, please send Sharon an email and I will send you an email application.  email at:   Cespa.Tibetan.Terriers@gmail.com    I will also send pictures of the last beautiful litter of puppies between Divo and Quicksilver.   All of the puppies from this breeding will be sable & white in color.

We are also happy to announce that Divo has been genetically tested through the OFA's DNA Disease Testing Program and Divo tested CLEAR for the genetically inherited disease of Primary Lens Luxation.    He is not a carrier of the gene for Lens Luxation.

Lens Luxation has been surfacing in certain lines of Tibetan Terriers.   The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) is offering genetic testing through the University of Missouri, to see if your TT is a carrier of the gene.   You can purchase the test here:    http://www.offa.org/dnatesting/

Primary Lens Luxation is an inherited disorder in which the zonules or suspensory fibers in the eye degenerate.   Both eyes are prone to dislocation of the lens.  If not treated immediately upon onset, blindness can occur.   Symptoms are cloudiness of eye (may turn white), pain, redness or inflammation.   You can read more at:

http://www.petplace.com/dogs/lens-luxation-in-dogs/page1.aspx

Ask your breeder if their dogs have tested for Primary Lens Luxation and ask what the results of the testing were.   Announcing that they do the testing for LL does not mean the dog was CLEAR of Lens Luxation.  You must ask for the results.   You may also ask the breeder to forward you a copy of the results.    Having the Sire & Dam's EYE CERF done, does NOT tell you if they are carriers of the Lens Luxation gene.   The DNA test are the only way to rule it out.   To find out more about the "genetics" of Lens Luxation, who should be tested and how it is passed, refer to the following link:      http://www.aht.org.uk/genetics_pll.html
